I want to study the similarities and differences between British Film Posters in terms of production, layout, suitability, presenting of characters and budget (overall budget)
I will study and analyse the teaser posters of the following British releases:
- SNATCH (2000) UK RELEASE DATE 1 SEPTEMBER
- LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS (1998) UK RELEASE DATE 28 AUGUST
- HARRY BROWN (2009) UK RELEASE DATE 11 NOVEMBER
SNATCH
Snatch is a 2000 crime film written and directed by British filmmaker Guy Ritchie, featuring an ensemble cast.
Set in the London criminal underworld, the film contains two intertwined plots:
- one dealing with the search for a stolen diamond
- the other with a boxing promoter named Turkish (Jason Statham) who finds himself under the thumb of a ruthless gangster known as Brick Top (Alan Ford)
It is also distinguished by a kinetic direction and identifiable editing style, a circular plot featuring numerous ironic twists of chance with a fast pace.
The film shares themes, and ideas with Ritchie's first film, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (later explored and studied). Also, Snatch is filmed in the same visual style and features many of the same actors, including Jones, Statham, and Ford.
Teaser Poster
The film teaser poster is a key tool in the promotion of any film and is designed to try and display the many ideas and motifs presented by the film.
- LAYOUT the characters in a staggered line up creates a three dimensional effect to the poster intriguing the reader/ audience
- TEXT the film title 'snatch' is in lower case letters in the colour white highlighting itself against the overall sepia tone of the poster
- ACTORS/ACTRESSES the names of some actors are stated at the top of the 'snatch' poster in black and in capital letters, this is in comparison to the rest of the written text present
- COLOUR a sepia tone and colour editing is used to create an urban, edgy, contemporary visual
- $10,000,000

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is a 1998 British crime film directed and written by Guy Ritchie.
- The story is a heist film involving a self-confident young card sharp who loses £500,000 to a powerful crime lord. In order to pay off his debts, he and his friends decide to rob a small-time gang who happen to be operating out of the flat next door
The film teaser poster is a key tool in the promotion of any film and is designed to try and display the many ideas and motifs presented by the film.
- LAYOUT the characters similarly to 'snatch' are in a staggered 'V' formation which again creates a three dimensional effect to the poster intriguing the reader/ audience
- TEXT the film title 'lock, stock and two smoking barrels' is in lower case letters and are varied in size, for example; the 'lock, stock' are larger and taller than the rest of the title. Colours are split, between the first and second part of the title varying from yellow to black
- ACTORS/ACTRESSES the names of some actors are stated at the top of the poster in yellow relating to the colour theme of yellow/black
